Later during the Korean war he commanded the destroyer USS John W Thompson. The USS Chung-Hoon was built by Ingalls shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi and commissioned September 2004. The USS Chung-Hoon is the 43rd destroyer in her class. The USS Chung-Hoon is a Flight 2A Arleigh Burke ship with the addition of two antisubmarine hangers for ASW helicopters and a new longer 5-inch/62-caliper naval gun. The USS Chung-Hoon’s homeport is the US Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
