Description: Vanguard Airlines propelled onto the runway as a super low-fare airline in 1994 operating out of Kansas City, MO. For a time, Vanguard offered fares as low as $29.00 and with free alcohol during its first years in business. Vanguard was only profitable for one quarter and then the events of September 11, 2001, were too much for the company. After being denied a government loan, Vanguard filed for bankruptcy and ceased business in July of 2002. The Vanguard Airlines First Officer Jacket Wing (3") is the 2nd issue style and a must-have for airline memorabilia collectors.
