Description: This incredible carving by well known Hopi artist Vern Mahkee is a little different than most carved kachinas that stand on a base. The overall size is 10.5" x 4.25" x 1". Looking at it straight on, it appears to have a lot more depth than only 1". Every bit is incredible detailed, down to the folds and waves of the blanket and clothing. The back is signed V Mahkee, and also has a hole to hang on the wall. Someone stuck half of a hook and loop fastener to the back. The kachina only weighs 3.1 oz, so it's more dependable to hang it that way than on a nail. Both of the tied parts on the side of the hair broke off, which isn't obvious on the front, but you can see the cracks on the back. Also, one foot has a broken part glued back.
