Description: RARE FIND--VERSION #4 FROM 1957 OF THE(PRE MARKED 300) MITCHELL REEL--this beauty shows hardly any wear anywhere--looks like it may have been mounted on a rod but not certain if it was ever actually fished with--this is the first mitchell that came with a full bail--it also has the plastic paddle knob on handle that was used mid production on the reel--note "300" is not marked on the reel below handle--it has angled reverse lever--the reel turns very smooth and has a strong bail spring--HOWEVER the anti reverse/clicker lever dont work--if the reel has been sitting all these years not being used it probably needs a squirt of fresh oil inside--the reel has serial #152350 on side--the reel comes in its original 2 piece box which is very solid with no split corners--it does show some grease stains from being stored in box all these years--the box bottom is fitted to the reel as shown--also included is the original spare large capacity spool that has never had line on it---the reel is equipped with early mono line which i decided to leave on reel--overall its near impossible to find a nearly 70 year old mitchell in this condition especially with original box--more info on this rare reel can be found on page 21 of dennis roberts mitchel reel collectors guide--YOU MAY NEVER SEE ANOTHER COMBO LIKE THIS----PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR MORE VINTAGE AND NEWER USEABLE FISHING REELS !!
