Description: This is a lovely, vintage piece of Crown Ducal pottery made in England, circa 1926. This Vase is a striking piece of the "Carnival" pattern. This pattern is rarely seen in the US and highly prized. The vase measures 10 1/2" tall and the rounded base measures 6 inches across. The background is a matte black glaze with hand painted design showing hanging lit lanterns and bamboo leaves. This pattern is known by a variety of names: "Carnival", "Oriental lanterns", or "Japanese lanterns" or "Chinese Lanterns". Whatever you call it, it is a charming and beautifully painted pattern. This vase is in very good condition. It is almost perfect. There are no chips or cracks. There is a very small white spot along the top lip but it does not feel like a scratch or chip. It actually looks like the paint did not cover. On the outer edge of the rounded bottom there are two tiny paint chips (please see photos).
