As stated on the Dana Holding Corporation website the Victor Manufacturing & Gasket Company was acquired in 1966. Due to an onslaught of asbestos lawsuits and in addition to a slump in the automotive industry, the Dana Corporation (aka Dana Holding Corp.) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2006. In February 2008, the Dana Holding Corp. emerged from bankruptcy after a reorganization plan was approved. Dana Holding had to set aside $240 million in cash and other assets to cover future asbestos and environmental contamination liabilities, as part of that plan. The majority of vehicles/engines listed specify at least one type of asbestos gasket. Many of the engine gaskets were used on passenger cars, trucks, tractors, jeeps, motorcycles, locomotives, construction vehicles, airplanes, marine engines and industrial engines. Photos show the testing and manufacturing of asbestos products with what appears to be no protection for the workers whatsoever. Additional asbestos products listed include: Victopac - Compressed asbestos sheet of long fibre asbestos - small rubber content - the highest grade packing of this type. Bluline Gaskets - were made of copper-asbestos construction. The Bluline product has been made of asbestos with a distinct blue color which is clearly visible at the gasket edges. Blue asbestos is one of the most harmful types of asbestos. Bluline represented the highest in gasket quality from Victor. Corbestos gaskets - graphited asbestos with steel core. Asbestos Rope Packing Asbestos Sheets Asbestos Wick Packing Wire-Woven Asbestos Packing Asbestos Millboard Many gaskets made by Victor contained asbestos; Victoloy, Double Overlap, United Flanging, Triple Overlap, Wire Insert and Flanged Shims all contained asbestos in their construction. Included is a list of original equipment users of Victor gaskets and nearly all major vehicle manufacturers are listed. Book Condition: The book is in GOOD condition!! The book has moderate wear and soiling from use most noticeably on the covers. There are no locations of writing, underlining or highlighting of the text that I could find from a cursory review. Binding is intact & square with no loose pages. The pages have browning due to age.
