It combines the exuberant decorative detail of the 1880s with the foursquare plan that became popular at the turn of the century. Rooms are spacious and beautifully proportioned, with tall, double-hung windows, fireplaces and bay windows. An expansive porch graces the front, with the horizontal line balanced by the vertical accent of the tower. A large dormer and this tower make an attic that is a complex and interesting space. As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. The first floor consists of an entry hall and stair with Parlor and Dining Room on either side. A large kitchen with pantry extends across the back. The second floor accommodates 4 bedrooms and a bath. One of these bedrooms could be converted to a bath, to make a Master Suite. The attic has the potential to contain a further bedroom and bath, as well as play spaces. This house would be comfortable in a suburban or country setting.
