Description: Description Offered for sale is a Victorian era trade card for the Story & Clark Organ Company, Chicago-London. Picture is of a woman holding a baby at an organ to play while a man proudly watches. The picture is titled "The First Lesson." Hampton Lovegrove Story (1835-1925) began with a small music shop in Vermont that soon grew into an organ manufacturer, from Story & Power Co. (1862) to Story & Camp (1868) and finally to the Story & Clark Organ Company. Melville Clark (1853-1918), was created the famous Apollo piano in 1901. In 1888, Story & Clark incorporated with H. L.'s son, E. H., as President and Clark as Vice-President. In 1895, they reorganized as the Story & Clark Piano Company. Story & Clark survived both the Great Depression and WW2. QRS Music Inc. is still producing pianos under the Story & Clark brand name today. Please enlarge pictures for a better view of condition. Measures about 5.25 by 3 inches (13 x 7.5 cm.).
