Description: Vietnam Era US Army/USMC M1956 Canvas Pistol Web Belt - 2nd Pattern - Medium Size Waist to 36" - Dated 1962 - Very Nice Condition Up for sale is a Vietnam Era M1956 Pistol Canvas Web Belt. This is a Medium, waist to 36" adjustable style belt. This belt is used, see photo's for Condition. No rips or tears, minor color fading. No fraying. No rips or tears. Some soiling from prior usage. Contract markings on the rear are present, looks like a 1962 contract date. This is the second pattern Canvas Belt with the Vertical lines in the canvas, rather than the earlier horizontal lines. This pattern was used until the late 1960's when it was replaced with a Nylon version of the same belt. The M1956 pistol belt was made from 2-1/4-inch wide cotton webbing dyed olive drab shade no. 7. It was made in Medium (under 36-inch waist) and Large (36-inch waist and over) sizes, and unlike the M1936 belt it could be adjusted in length from both ends. The M1956 belt was initially produced with a ball-type buckle, however from 1967 it was also available with a quick-release ‘Davis’ T-slot fastener. With the weight taken by the M1956 suspenders the belt was used to carry a field pack, ammunition pouches, canteen covers etc. Please see photos.
