Vintage 1950's Floral Cross Patterned Turkish Oushak Rug 5'4"× 9'5"

Description: This lovely Oushak rug makes it's way from Cappadocia. It features a beautiful floral cross (hac) pattern throughout. According to the Anatolian belief the cross reduces the power of the evil glance by dividing it into four pieces. This rug has a natural abrash through out which can be seen in the pictures. The abrash only adds to its uniqueness and provokes conversation about it. Often times In nomadic culture, there is an ingrained idea about man’s imperfection and proneness to errors. It is common for intentional mistakes to be weaved into these area rugs. Other reasons for abrash is weavers use hand spun wool and mix dyes in small batches and quantities months apart. This time allows for inconsistency's in the materials used. This rug features an extremely dense, tightly woven wool pile that is great for high traffic areas. Natural dyes and colors include: black, ivory, blue, and more. This hand made rug is made of non-shedding hand spun wool making it easy to clean, and making it incredibly soft to walk and lounge on. This densely woven wool rug contains natural oils called lanolin that naturally resist dirt and grime, therefore allowing it to look cleaner for much longer than synthetic rugs. Regular vacuuming will remove any dirt and grime, and allow you to enjoy your rug for many decades.
