Description: Vintage 1959 program "The Infernal Machine" Jean Cocteau S.F. Actor's Workshop. Original program from an archive of vintage theater programs related to mid-century theater in California. This program came from San Fransisco Actor's Workshop Guild printed on yellow paper in black ink. Directed by Vincent Porcaro, Narrated by George Hitchcock and starring Alan Brody, Bert Brauer and Edward O'Brien among others. The Infernal Machine, or La Machine Infernale is a French play by the dramatist Jean Cocteau, based on the ancient Greek myth of Oedipus. The play initially premiered on April 10, 1934 at the Theatre Louis Jouvet in Paris, France. The Infernal Machine, as translated by Albert Bermel, was first played at the Phoenix Theatre, New York, on February 3, 1958, under the direction of Herbert Berghof. The Infernal machine premiered at the San Fransisco Actor's Workshop Guild on April 30, 1959. Good condition with no tears of stains. Slight fold as shown.
