Description: This vintage, magenta (an uncommon color) Hot Wheels Sand Crab (part of the "1970 Hot Wheels" line-up, though cast in 1969) was modeled after a popular Monogram model kit by Tom Daniel. Designer Howard Rees created this Hot Wheels incarnation and it came with a water "flower power" decal sheet (the owner of this one attached the decals). The US version of the Sand Crab features clear windscreen glass and a black interior (this is the US version). The Hong Kong versions have blue-tinted windscreens and white interior. The bases of the two versions differ only in the text. This toy has been carefully stored away since the early '70s - a relative's death revealed a stash of toys to entertain visiting grandchildren - the cars were only played with when the grandkids visited.
