Vintage 1975 Electro Voice RE-11 dynamic cardioid microphone w clip RE15 RE10

You are looking at a high quality Electro Voice RE-11 cardioid dynamic microphone made in 1975 as shown on the serial number and made in Buchanan, Michigan. It comes with the E.V model mic clip shown. Pic # 2 shows the mics characteristics from an old E.V advertisement. The RE-11 model was made in the early 1970's up until about the year 2000 I believe and production on the RE-11 model stopped in 2000 or 2001. This is a very early RE-11 model. The RE-11 is a very desirable mic for use with vocals. One of the finer dynamic cardioid mics made during the 1970's - 1990's and still very sought after even today for it's excellent sound characteristics. Lite weight and built like a tank. These mics rarely ever fail and have good output. Similar to the Shure SM-57 except that it has the bass drop off switch and a little less bass. It should be noted that the signal strength on the RE-11 is not as strong as some of the other RE series mics. I have noticed that on every single RE-11 I have come across so a little gain will go a long way with these microphones. There is nothing wrong with this mic. It's just how the RE-11 was built. It has more to do with the large pop filter that gives more distance between the front grill and element. The Shure SM54 and other certain older mics are the same. You will get a stronger signal with the 1/4 inch cable. If you use an XLR to XLR cable the signal strength drops a bit. This microphone has been thoroughly cleaned and tested but as you can see the mic is in very good condition. The signal strength is 100% and sounds excellent...set at 150 OHMS which is more midrange tone but has an adjustable bass switch as seen in pic # 10 so that you can get more or less bass from this mic. It has a warm, rich tone on the lower Z setting and is excellent for broadcasting and singing. It has a higher impedance sound with very little bass on it's high setting. A superb microphone all around and if you are a singer...you're gonna love this model. Easy to hold and superb uni-directional characteristics. The chrome mesh screen is nice too with no discoloration or odor but there is very subtle deformation. Mic has a completely new upper and lower inner foam pop filter that's in fantastic shape to help with sound characteristics. Cuts down on unwanted "pops" from breathing to close or windy conditions. The original pop filters degrade and fall apart causing unwanted feedback and other issues so replacing these are critical to getting the right sound. The original sage green paint on the handle has typical wear in the form of a few small scratches and scuff marks. No fractures or engravings and the E.V label is completely legible and looks great. The XLR pins on the mic have been cleaned to ensure a perfect signal once the cable is attached. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included. The RE-11 also comes with the E.V 311 model mic clip that is in excellent condition and works great for this microphone giving the user a wide degree of tilt up and down as needed. The clip will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have as well. Overall this mic is physically a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. A fine looking RE-11 that works like new and will get the job done. This is an American mic that will continue to rise in price as the years go by. No longer made and far better quality than many dynamic cardioid mics made today.
