Description: Offered for sale is a single 1975 Illinois license plate numbered PB 1961. The aged plate has minor wear from use and spots from hitting bugs. Plus, the 12” x 6” plate has rubbing where the bolts were used to hold the plate to a vehicle. For 1975 the colors of black letters on Caterpillar yellow were chosen by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office for the color of Illinois license plates. For 1975 according to Cyberdrive on the Illinois Government Secretary of State web page, “The passenger plate colors of black on yellow are chosen in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Caterpillar Tractor Co., headquartered in Peoria.” The Caterpillar colored license plates are a favorite Illinois collectible.
