Description: This one measures 22 5/8 x 14 3/4" and is titled "Invasion of the Robots". This exhibit took place at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA from Feb. 10 through Mar. 7, 1986. Artist BioClayton G. Bailey was born in Antigo, Wisconsin in 1939 and is now currently active in Port Costa, California. Bailey studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1957 to 1962 where he received his B.S. in Art Education in 1961 and M.S. in Art and Art Education in 1962. Originally starting out as a glass blower, he abandoned it quickly for ceramics. Bailey is most known for his odd and quirky ceramic sculptures and animated scrap metal robots. The slogan "Think Ugly" was painted on the wall of his first ceramics class as a reminder that "beauty" is a familiar and safe attitude towards art and that he and his students should seek out the new, unusual and uncomfortable in the ugly. Bailey has work in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution and several other museums, including his own Bailey Art Museum that was created in 2013 and a sculpture at the University of North Dakota.First picture is for reference. Please see pictures. Feel free to ask any questions! Please note that on any listings involving antiques/collectibles that we do the “bare minimum” on cleaning and only use a paper towel and water. The reason for this is so that the item does not get damaged, stained, looses paint/color, etc. There are items listed that do need cleaned a bit more, but we prefer to leave that to the buyer.
