Description: For your consideration are five Ellery Queen paperbacks (mysteries), Face to Face (1968), Queen’s Full (1975), The Four of Hearts (1970), The King Is Dead (1972), and The Last Score (1974). You will also receive a bonus book, Inspector Queen’s Own Case (1976). These books had been a friend’s books. All of the books are in good condition being fully intact with tight spines and no missing pages. The books do have cover issues with scuffing or possible bent corners and tanning to the pages, so please observe all photos. The bonus book, Inspector Queen’s Own Case received a spill on it at some time in the past resulting in a stain on the front cover and the pages being somewhat warped. From the back cover of Face to Face (176 pages), the publisher writes: “IT WAS DEATH FOR ‘OLD GLORY’— and the only clue to the murderer of Gloria Guild the singing ‘Glory’ of the Thirties is her dying scrawl— face Why face? Whose face?Ellery Queen pursues the Glory riddle from the Bowery to a way-out wedding—and a surprise climax that will jolt you into cold shock. And any reader who nails this killer is a genius or a cheat. THE GREAT NEW NBC-TV MYSTERY SERIES ELLERY QUEEN Starring Jim Hutton as Ellery Queen & David Wayne as Inspector Queen Based on the famed series of novels BY ELLERY QUEEN” From the back cover of Queens Full (167 pages and a page About the Author the publisher writes: “ MURDER STOPS THE SHOW Foster Benedict, aging matinee idol was doing the lead in the Wrightsville production of The Death of Don Juan. He didn’t like playing the sticks, and he was sabotaging the performance, turning it into a farce. ‘If I get my hands on him,’ screamed the amateur producer, ‘I’ll…’ But it was too late. When the curtain rose on the second act, Benedict was dead. There were plenty of suspects—it seemed Foster Benedict had upstaged everyone in town. Ellery Queen’s job was a little like a casting director’s—there was plenty of talent, but no one was right for the part of killer! Also by Ellery Queen from Ballantine: AND ON THE EIGHTH DAY INSPECTOR QUEEN’S OWN CASE CAT OF MANY TAILS THE FOURTH SIDE OF THE TRIANGLE” From the back cover of The Four of Hearts (223 pages) the publisher writes: Lights, Camera, Murder! It was a script that could only have come from Hollywood: the spectacular wedding of two superstars after a scandal-filled courtship…a wild trip by private plane to an exclusive hideaway…a deadly overdose of drugs… On the screen, it would have been a smash. But these corpses weren’t play-acting. And once again Ellery Queen was cast in the role of master detective, as he found that nothing was quite what it seemed in the never-never land of moviedom—except sudden violent death… Featuring Ellery Queen’s famous challenge to reader! Can you solve THE FOUR OF HEARTS? You’ll have the lineup of suspects, their secrets, their alibis, their ties to the deceased. Follow the clues, and they’ll lead you straight to the killer. Take one wrong turn—and you’re lost. Can you do it? Can you match the fabulous Ellery Queen wit for wit, killer for killer?” From the back cover of The King Is Dead (192 pages) the publisher writes: “Queen was royally stumped— Ellery Queen’s job was to keep a powerful tycoon from being murdered. With the help of all the King’s money and all the King’s men the task looked simple. But there was a case where the perfect detective came face to face with a killer who had contrived the perfect crime! For how could King Bendigo, closely guarded behind steel doors, be shot by Judah, who was being watched by Ellery in another room? The pressure was on and Ellery knew he had to think fast—before the Bendigo court really lost its head!” From the back cover of The Last Score (158 pages) the publisher writes: “MURDER, MEXICAN STYLE Leslie Gibson was a wealthy, beautiful, seventeen-year-old brat—out for kicks at any price! And Leslie had decided that Reid Rance, adventurer and travel guide extraordinaire, was just the man to show her the hot spots across the border. So the Gibson greenbacks traded hands and Reid found himself being strong-armed into chaperoning this delightfully dangerous doll around a Mexico the tourists never saw. But touring led to trouble with a capital T, and Reid was soon minus one debutante but plus several unwanted corpses, and desperately wanted by both the Mexican and American police and the Mexican underground. Could Reid evade the cops of two countries and rescue Leslie from her underground abductors before time ran out for them both…? NEW AMERICAN LIBRARY PUBLISHERS SIGNET, MENTOR, CLASSIC, PLUME & MERIDIAN BOOKS FROM SIGNET Telling Your Story A Guide to Who You Are and Who You Can Be By Sam Keen and Anne Valley Fox” BONUS BOOK—From the back cover of Inspector Queen’s Own Case (202 pages) the publisher writes: “‘ELLERY QUEEN IS THE AMERICAN DETECTIVE STORY.’ --Anthony Boucher MURDER ONCE, MURDER TWICE… For years Inspector Richard Queen had been outshone by his writer-detective son. Now with Ellery away, Dick Queen, freshly retired from the NYPD, had a case all his own—or did he? The verdict had been accidental death, and only the victim’s nurse had seen the one thing that made it murder. Dick Queen believed her—especially when the next lead in the case developed terminal back trouble—from six inches of sharpened steel. Recruiting a Senior Citizens corps of retired cops, Dick Queen tracked a murderer—and found himself courting his only witness! No wonder he kept muttering, ‘What’s Ellery going to say…?’” For the fan of Ellery Queen of bygone days these six books will satisfy your quench.
