Description: JACOB SEMIATIN (1915 - 2003) ; N.Y.C. and Woodstock, N.Y. artist, an American Abstract Expressionist. This one from (date), signed and (size), Fine condition, this or numerous can be tube shipped. Fine and highly singular example of his best medium, a watercolor, signed and from his estate. A once quite well known New York, Brooklyn and Woodstock N.Y. artist, exhibiting, years back, along side Nicolas de Staal, Jackson Pollock and very notable others. At the time, he was the first and only artist to have a single artist show at the Brooklyn Museum, that may remain still true. In the 1984-6 period, he had at least a sale of a work at both Christie's and Sotheby's.along with notable dealer representation. Strange, at the blossoming of his career, he simply and quite totally withdrew as he continued painting, unknown why. He had a home in Woodstock and summered there for a long time. Semiatin was eventually also factored as one of the Woodstock artists. He died in 2003. In 2009 or 10, I bought nearly all and the best of his unsold works from his studio and estate sale held up near to Woodstock on Rt. 28. I offer a good representative group, singularly here in a few sequences, all watercolors, all from his best period, the later 1950's to the early 1990's. Numerous, including these, are at least 22" x 30", all unframed, all signed, just about all are also dated and, having had their long time stored away, all in very fine condition, most painted on fine heavy Strathmore artist paper.
