Vintage Auvard Weighted Vaginal Speculum

Description: I am a retired ObGyn and medical historian who has collected books and instruments for over 40 years. Age and downsizing have prompted me to pass along my items to younger collectors with the space to display them. As time permits, I will be listing approximately 300 books and over 100 instruments on eBay. This is a vintage Auvard vaginal speculum. It weighs ~3 lb 3 oz. This type of instrument is used in almost all vaginal operations under anesthesia; its weight allows hands-free retraction of the lower vaginal wall and perineum. This particular model appears to be nickel or chrome-plated steel or brass. It shows some wear and there are a few small areas on the inside where the plating has flaked off. There is a manufacturer's stamp near the bottom that I cannot identify. Overall, it looks pretty good. Please look at the photos. I will ship U.S.P.S. Priority mail.
