Description: This is an extremely hard to find mirror from the Bassett Mirror Company. This mirror was made no later than the mid-20th century. However, given its rarity and design, it might be from one of the original collections. The designer used GILTWOOD, which is the painstaking process of hand applying Gold Leaf to the chosen wood. Cleaning and maintaining Giltwood is not very difficult and should not be completed frequently. The luster of the gold doesn't tarnish, but a "brown" coloration is typical and normal. This coloration easily wipes away with correct cleaning methods. Please become familiar with which cleaning methods you should use. It is better to have valuable gold-leaf Giltwood with dust and dirt than a clean and shiny worthless piece of wood. Although anyone can enjoy this unique piece of artistic decor, it is always nice when someone appreciates it for what it is; and that is definitely art. This mirror has scratches and blemishes.
