Vintage Cast Iron - Steel Stag / Deer / Elk / Reindeer Door Stop / Bookend

Description: This handsome and well designed doorstop is a unique and heavy piece. Designed with intricate details down to even the padding at the bottom that is rugged enough to withstand years of wear, yet soft enough to protect any surface it touches. From top to bottom, the details of the Stag, Deer Elk, or Reindeer head are exquisite. After extensive search, neither I nor the appraisers I tap on could find a comparable likeness. I am unable to test the metal to determine if this is cast iron or steel, without harming the piece, so priced it with quality and appearance in mind. (As well as using the appraisers' suggestion!) The doorstop is 11.25 inches tall, by 7 inches deep, and 5 inches wide. It is 5 lbs in weight. It is in very good condition considering its estimated mid-20th century origin. There are several small areas where the off black coating has rubbed off. Please see the pictures. These spots are small. Mainly on areas like the tip of an antler or corner of the back of the base, with exception to one pictured on the top of the figures head. Most are small enough that you need to pick it up and look for each to see it. This piece is one of my fabulous estate sales finds, and is offered "As Is" and is non refundable, non returnable.
