Description: Vintage Colonial Apple Cone. No box/tags. Has some leftover bits of glue from previously attached plastic fruit. Made in Virginia by Pastimes Ltd. Stands just under 9” tall. Some peeling of paint on nails from age. Has a green felt bottom. “A popular 18th Century Williamsburg Decoration. The base is a wooden cone, which is made from a piece of seasoned wood at least five inches in diameter, seven or eight inches, with a flat top about two inches in diameter. Glue felt to the base so it will not scratch your table. Get apples of uniform size and redness and impale them on the nails sideways. Use a small whole pineapple, or use a larger one cut midway, and place on nail on top of cone. When all fruit is in place tuck cedar sprigs or boxwood around to hide the mechanics. Set on a fan-shaped design of magnolia leaves. A pair of cones are stunning on a mantel at any time, or a single one as a centerpiece on the dining-room table can be a real conversation piece. Apple cones will last one week or more.” Check out my Awesome Feedback!!
