Description: Here is a hunting style fixed-blade knife that comes with a sheath, and both are in EXCELLENT shape.The knife is a little over 9" in length. THE KNIFE The blade marked as: F. HERDER A. Sn SOLINGEN - GERMANY The knife dates back to the 1960s/’70s, and is in astonishing shape for its age. It is very well made with a nice piece of reddish-brown wood for the grip. Friedrich Herder Abr. Sohn Stahlwarenfabrik (“steel goods factory”) has been manufacturing knives, scissors and tools since 1727 in Solingen, Germany. Friedr. Herder was one of the few blade makers that did all forging, grinding, handling and skilled hand-finished work in their own Solingen workshops. The company was registered in 1840 and began producing edged weapons in the 1870s and 1880s. Friedrich Herder passed away in 1887, and his uncle Gustav Weyersberg took over. The company produced various items, including knives, sheaths, and more. The company ceased trading in the early1990s and was declared insolvent in 1993. THE SHEATH The sheath is in excellent shape. It is vintage Viking Leather with a tooled basket weave pattern. All hand made by Viking, Mexico. It is stamped HAND MADE BY VIKING MEXICO Viking started business in 1964.
