Description: Here we have a beautiful hand made, carved wood Shiner made by, Frank Brogan out of Port Huron, Michigan. He regularly fished in Saginaw Bay. Circa 1940's. Frank Brogan is a recently discovered old-time decoy carver, who was actively making decoys around the same time as Isaac Goullette and regarded as a peer. Indeed one can often pick up on similarly made details in the two carvers styles. Presenting with painted metal fins, painted white across the belly, sides, and across the back, with a classic-red long head region. She has a beautiful Lake St. Clair type wood tail, a full curved body, and an understated elegance typical of Fish of the region. 4 7/8" long. The Fish is in very good condition, with the appropriate signs of use or wear. The Fish has a fine mellow patina appropriate to its age. A Gem from the North Woods of Michigan. I'm adding a small packing and handling fee.
