Description: Framed VINTAGE Painting of a Guitar and Books by Bruger in beautiful original frame c1920s or 1940s Lovely painting by Bruger that was sold at the upscale Todd Galleries at Lord & Taylor. The only info I can find is that Bruger worked in and around the 1920’s.and that he loved to paint violins, guitars and still life. This painting depicts a guitar, a composer's musical sheet and some books ...it is painted on wood board, the wood frame a dark grey or very dark green with a flaking gold wash. The frame says Wolsey Taiwan - Taiwan was under many occupations and became independent in 1949 - the painting could have been framed and re-framed at a later date - or this may establish the painting to be from the 1940s - rather than the 1920s - regardless - it is a lovely paintingand a beautiful frame. And since Lord & Taylor is officially closed - it is a collectable. The frame is 16 1/2" X 14 1/2" X 1 1/4" the painting image is 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" the painting is in excellent condition and the frame too tinywear on the linen part of the matting which considering the age has very light discoloration.
