Description: Vintage Franci Villa Vanilla Palm Beach Vegetable Polka Dot 1.5 Quart Dish & Lid This was Vegetable Polka Dot 1.5 Quart Dish was designed for the Taste Setter Collection for AMM by artist Franci Villa Vanilla Palm Beach. It measures approximately 11 1/2" long, 6 5/8" wide and 6" high with lid, 3 3/4" without the lid. It's in very nice condition without chips or cracks. The artist who designed the art for this vegetable polka dot covered dish is Francigene Young. Franci grew up on her family's summer farm in New Hampshire and so she just naturally wove bold vegetables into her designs. She bought a kiln and took eight lessons for $1.50 each, then started designing her own pieces. A friend took her plates to a Nantucket market and a Palm Beach Gallery asked her to do a show. Her hand painted custom sets sold for up to $5000! Her dishes bear the mark Villa Vanilla. That's what she named her house when she came to Palm Beach after her husband retired 11 years ago from the presidency of the Leo Burnett advertising agency in Chicago. In the 1970's, she made a collection for Sigma and her designs were manufactured in Sigma's factories in Japan, Italy and Bavaria.
