Description: This auction is for a beautiful vintage footed cup and saucer by the Grantcrest China Company of Japan, decorated with yellow roses and pale brown foliage. The flower motif appears on the inside wall of the cup, fully visible whether on display or while drinking tea (as long as the drinker is right-handed!), and on the saucer. Both the cup and the saucer are lavishly trimmed with gold daubs. The cup has a particularly pretty and unusual shape with an elaborately designed foot and handle, and both cup and saucer have a delicately scalloped rim. Measurements: The cup measures approximately 2 7/8” high and approximately 3½” in diameter across the rim; and the saucer is approximately 5¾” in diameter. Marks: Both cup and saucer bear the Grantcrest mark. Condition: This set is in excellent vintage condition, with no repairs, chips, cracks, scratches, or crazing.
