Description: This is an uncommon variant of Griswold's No 8 (738) griddle. The griddle features the "Slant Erie" mark instead of the "Slant EPU marking". Date of manufacture is 1909-1920. The cooking surface is in fantastic condition with original factory polish marks. The cooking surface has hints of utensil scores and some patches of light etching from corrosion. Twelve sheets of printer paper slipped under one side of the griddle stops movement on a granite surface. The movement could be attributed to the uneven casting finish of the bottom ring. No chips, cracks or repairs.Test for flatness of item. With the item resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until item stops moving. This item is from an old collection that was cleaned and seasoned, then stored for many years. Because item was stored for many years, there may be spots of light surface rust. This can generally be washed away then re-seasoned before use. This item is photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Item is much darker under normal light. Photos are part of the items description. Please use them for a more clear understanding of items overall condition. If you have any questions, please let me know.
