Description: Came across this little gem the other day and had to bring it home. I'm already operating with my project stables at max capacity, but a Gunlocke, that I've never seen. Wasn't even aware Gunlocke was still producing chairs in what appears to be a 12/1971 manufacture dated chair just screaming Frank Lloyd and other pioneers of the MCM. This is MCM at its finest. Engineering elements showcase in artistic form. This chair is incredible in my opinion. Never seen a reclining arm chair where the back rest rocks independently from the seat and arms. It's very very comfortable. Has an incredible amount of adjustment. Is in remarkably good shape. It was found in a house locally a couple had purchased from a very eclectic lady who owned a house here in Wausau, WI that was actually a Frank Lloyd Wright house. She recently passed and the house she had moved into after they sold the Wright house held this little nugget of 1960 and 70s MCM goodness. And it's a Gunlocke so you know it's built. The Wright house was built up on Highland Park Boulevard in Wausau, WI if interested . Very unique place. Build into the ground and side of a steel hill with only a small portion above ground and visible, utilizing sunlight and mirrors to bring light to the subterranean dwelling. This apparently came out of there. Maybe you could find a pic of it in the house. Sure there is something online. Then it would really be worth something. This chair is 100% complete. It rocks. It rolls. Adjustable seat, roughly 5" up and down. Backrest. Looks like you can get about 3" of vertical movement and then there is another crank type handle that has about an 1" of adjustment for the camber/angle of the backrest. Which probably equates into 3-5" up top. Then there is a dial for the tension on the 2 springs that handle the reclining action. If you know Gunlocke chairs, you know how they are built. Very well. This is no exception. Even in 1971, when America was shipping things over seas and using substandard materials, Gunlocke stood firm in their commitment to excellence and quality. It may have done them in, or at least this is the newest Gunlocke I've yet seen. And it sure is different. Selling chair as a turn key project. Nothing other than aesthetics need be handled. It functions and all the incredibly odd brackets and levers and dials and cranks are all there. I was going to rip it down, powder coat it and get some nice new tough wool fabric and then sell it for 1200$. But I figure. Let someone else have all the fun. And I'm out of room. If you're in the Midwest. I can ship it to you for 99$. Otherwise I am sorry about the costs, it's very large and heavy.
