Description: Offered for sale, a vintage, possibly antique, hakata elder woman clay bisque sculpture in polychrome. The solid clay sculpture exemplifies the elder woman in a meditative pose, seated, arms and legs crossed and eyes closed. It is what I would describe as primitive in style mainly based on the crude and unfinished condition of the base: open hole, incomplete and imperfect paint strokes; no identifying information. From the limited research I have done on hakata, there is often a couple; however, I have only this one. Measurements: 4 1/4" in height; 2 3/4" in width; 3" in depth. I have made no attempt to clean the sculpture; however, I have no doubt some of the surface soil could be removed, if desired. That is left to discretion of the buyer. I would recommend reading about cleaning bisque and porcelain before attempting to do so. Weight: 14 ounces without packaging
