Mr. DeWalt was adecorated Army veteran of World War II and received four bronze stars invarious battles and campaigns, including Normandy, the Rhineland, Northern France,and Central Europe, before starting Theobald Lamps in 1973. ThisChantilly model was constructed with walnut and hand cut panes of foliageetched glass, with fit and finish that is seldom found with factory pieces.Even the keepers for the glass panels are wooden. Like eachlight produced by the master craftsman, this one is numbered and dated on the interior.Ours bears the number 292 and is dated 1982. A brass plate stating “ORIGINAL TheobaldLamp” is also attachedto the interior. Includedwith the lamp are an extra triangular glass pane and an oval one, if needed forreplacement. We also have the signed and dated (June 12, 1982) Registration Certificatethat serves as the Certificate of Authenticity.This is a rare opportunity to own alight fixture that is a true work of art!
