Vintage H&K Tunstall Bone China Floral Trio Cup Saucer Plate England c1940's

Description: Tunstall Tea Trio Dimensions are approximately: Saucer diameter: 14cms (5 1/2" ins)Square plate diameter: 16.5cms (6 1/2" ins)Cup diameter excluding handle:8.5cms (3 1/4" ins) Cup height excluding handle: 7cms (2 3/4" ins) This charming bone china tea trio was produced by English firm H&K Tunstall circa 1940's-1950's. The cup, saucer and plate is decorated with a pretty floral pattern and little gold stars. The addition of elegant gold trims to the handle and rims complete this lovely set. As the years pass, these lovely china items become more precious... pieces are damaged, lost or collections are broken up. The good news for collectors is that quality pieces should not only hold their value but increase over time. Condition: Generally good vintage condition commensurate for age and use. Some fine crazing to all. No chips, fractures or discolouration. Occasional spot... some minor aged wear to the gold trims, mainly the cup rim. Saucer has small mark to the inner gold band. Colours and patterns all still lovely. Nice little set! Backstamp: Made in England H&K Tunstall Letter B (WW2 era manufacture) Circa: 1940's Additional Info: H&K Tunstall (Hollinshead & Kirkham) were originally located at Burslem in the 1870s and then relocated to TunstalI in the 1890s. The art deco period of the 1930s saw H&K introduce a new and affordable range of hand painted 'fruit' tableware to replicate the more expensive Worcester fruit painted wares. The same era saw the introduction of English Garden patterns such as ‘Homestead’ and includes the instantly recognised ‘Crinoline Lady’ series. Incidentally the famous Clarice Cliff was a lithographer at H&K for 3 years at the tender age of 17 while attending evening classes in Tunstall before going to work for A. J. Wilkinson. In 1956 the business was wound up and the factory was purchased by Johnson Bros Ltd.
