I confirmed references of this one back to the 1970’s, possibly back to the 1960’s. categorized as a comfort saddle, with a Leather top, latex foam padding, loops for your saddle bag, and rear coil springs. It’s Lighter than it looks and feels great! has some scuff marks and wear, but it’s in great shape especially for a 50+ year old saddle. If you’re looking for a comfortable, light weight, leather, touring or road saddle for your vintage ride and want something unique and different than your typical Brooks, definitely consider this one! Ideale has a dizzying number of saddles in its rich history, also might be the nicest (and lightest) leather saddles that many have never have heard of. made by Tron et Berthet, a French company in the quaint village of Pont-Saint-Pierre, the former wool spinning mill repurposed the hydraulic paddlewheel to power making saddles for 91 years! if it wasn’t for the collapsing French cycling industry and inability to move beyond traditional manufacturing methods, the original factory might still be around today.
