Description: Vintage Japanese Hakata Mimasu Doll, Grandmother Teaching Child Bisque Clay 7.5" tall x 8.75" wide x 6" deep. This piece is at least 70 years old. The art is extremely realistic. It has an aged look which I assume was it's original design. Hakata dolls are the best known craft items from Fukuoka Prefecture, which lies in the north of the island of Kyushu. The origin of this local specialty goes back to around 1608, when Fukuoka Castle was built.
