Description: A fine vintage Japanese woodblock print. Entitled "Kinkaku-ji in Snow". By Tomikichiro Tokuriki (1902 - 1999). Tokuriki came from a family of artists and was first taught by his grandfather. He graduated from Kyoto Art College in 1923. He is also a notable artist in the sosaku hanga (創作版画, literally "creative prints") art movement, a 20th Century development influenced by the West where an artist would handle every single aspect of creating their print. This is contrasted with shin hanga (新版画, literally "new prints), which used the more traditional method of having a rigid team of artist, carver, painter, & publisher working together to create a print. Depicting Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavillion, a famous Kyoto temple) during a winter snowfall. This is part of a collection of prints by Tomikichiro entitled "Twenty Views of Kyoto". Simply a lovely print depicting one of Kyoto's most famous sites! Date:1950s - 1960s Overall Condition:It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details:There is some light edge wear to the frame. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
