Description: This is an Antique Japanese Woodblock Print by Artist Kitagawa Utamaro (1753 - 1806) depicting a Teahouse Waitress named Naniwaya Okita. This Waitress was one of the beauties likened to the six immortal poets. This is a portrait of Okita, a waitress who worked at the Naniwaya teahouse near the Asakusa Temple. At the time this print was made, she would have been approximately seventeen. Okita was one of the most famous beauties in Edo; she was frequently depicted by Utamaro. This Woodblock is in very good condition, and is framed in a very nice gold wood frame. The frame measures 11 1/2" by 9 1/2". The Woodblock print measures 5 1/2" by 3 1/2". The woodblock and Frame weigh 1 LB 6 OZ. Most of the items I sell are estate finds, and are presented to you in, as is, as found condition. They are described to the best of my knowledge.
