Description: This is a vintage figurine or statue depicting Hotei, who is one of Japan’s Seven Gods of Fortune. He brings happiness in the form of laughter and harmonious marriage, and is sometimes referred to as the Laughing Buddha. This piece stands 6-3/4" tall. The elaborate details on the robe include raised, trailing lines, floral prints, and metallic gold tone accents. His face is warm and lifelike with wrinkles, creases, dimples, fingernails and toenails. Tiny brush strokes form patches of body hair. His lips are parted in a smile showing a row of perfect tiny teeth. He radiates good feelings! I think this statue is solid porcelain. The robe is textured, and the body has a bisque finish. The bottom shows age, and has a few numbers written in pencil. There is no other marking or signature. This piece is in excellent condition, and displays beautifully!
