Description: Offered for sale is a set of 4 Vintage Industrial Porcelain 2-piece ceiling mounts. The 2-piece design was used to allow you to move drop cord or pendant ceiling fixtures from one location to another within a workshop, or home. You would merely turn the lower half 1/4 turn to remove it along with the drop cord and light fixture. The upper half remains in place, hard-wired to the ceiling. In this way, you could move your lights to any location that might be needed without having a complete light fixture in every location. This type of porcelain mount was used in Thomas Edison's laboratory at the Thomas Edison National Historic Park in West Orange, NJ. You can see them there in photos #5, 6 and 7. The upper piece has two mounting holes inside, and can be mounted to a ceiling or to a wood or metal mounting plate which is then secured to the ceiling. Dimensions are 1 3/4" H x 2 1/8" W . Thank you for your interest!
