Description: Vintage Louise Nevelson Dawn’s Forest Wood Sculpture Poster High Museum Atlanta Louise Nevelson (September 23, 1899 – April 17, 1988) was an American sculptor known for her monumental, monochromatic wooden wall pieces and outdoor sculptures. Dawn’s Forest was Louise Nevelson's last, largest and most complex work. She completed it a less than two years before she died of cancer on April 17, 1988 at the age of 88. Nevelson first conceived and envisioned the project in the 1970s, but she did not give impetus to the final design until she received a commission the assemblage from paper product manufacturer Georiga Pacific and insurance giant Metropolitan Life in 1985. The completed work was installed under Nevelson’s watchful eye the following year in the dark panelled lobby of Georgia Pacific and MetLife’s headquarters in Atlanta. The grouping was displayed there until 2010, when it was donated to the Patty & Jay Baker Naples Museum of Art. Good, pre-owned, vintage condition. There may be minor creasing due to storage.
