Vintage Majestic Fountain Pen - 14kt Gold Nib

Description: Vintage Majestic Fountain Pen - 14kt Gold Nib - Restored "Majestic Pen Company" started life as J. Harris & Co. in the 1910's/1920's and made some nice quality pens. After the Great Depression, they made more affordable pens for the lower tier market. They used some very interesting celluloids and generally made pretty decent pens despite their lower cost at the time. This particular one is likely from the 1940's based on the celluloid and gold nib and comes in a beautiful cranberry red striated plastic. Features: - Beautiful red celluloid, nice and shiny pen.- Fully restored lever-filler! Cleaned inside and out and fitted with a fresh new ink sac - it is ready to write!- 14kt gold fine-medium gold nib - has a bit of a weird grind on it, thicker side strokes than up and down, but writes consistently. A little bit on the soft side but shouldn't be pushed too hard, not full flex.- Very lightweight and comfortable to use. Condition Notes: - Celluloid is in generally pretty good condition but there's some wear, scratches, and the usual "belly bulge" that is found on these slightly lower tier brands. Small part of the cap lip has a rough area on the outside.- Ink window is very clear but has some internal stress marks. They appear to be stable, no leaks. - Clip has a bit of tarnish on it and feels just a little bit loose but is very usable. Cap band is in good condition but spins a little.- As noted above, nib's grind is somewhat unique and may not suit everyone's writing style. It certainly made my handwriting a bit uglier! That being said, it has a lot of character, not a boring nib. Overall it's a cool pen from a less appreciated brand. This pen has some condition issues noted above so I have priced it appropriately and I think it's a really good deal for someone dipping their toes into the vintage pen hobby!
