For all avid collectors of McKee - GLASBAKE ... this iconic brand was developed in 1917, with changes in name over the years: GLASBAKE Ovenware 1917-53; GLASBAKE by McKee a division of Thatcher 1951-61; GLASBAKE by Jeannette 1961-83, when it closed.Offered here is a Nesting-Pair of - VINTAGE Depression-Era McKee GLASBAKE - Opal-White Milk-Glass, Round, Bell-Shaped-Profile, Nesting-Mixing-Bowls – 6-IN Small-Size Sunshine-Primary-Yellow topcoat and 9-IN Extra-Large Primary-Red topcoat– in gently-used and well-loved condition - likely produced 1930’s+.The glass is very heavy in gauge and weight. The bell-form of this bowl is iconic VINTAGE - associated with McKee and other glassmakers of that era. The Base has the same fired-on colour as do the sides of each bowl.Small 6-IN - Yellow Mixing Bowl -There are no obvious chips or cracks - there are a couple tiny flea-bites in the center of the thick rounded upper edge; there is some fleck colour-loss; some marking where there is wear to the colour - no staining.Interior glass surfaces are super highly-glossy, shiny, & clean - barely used. There are a couple faint utensil contact marks, fine rubs or scratches on the interior's surface; there is some visible milk-glass swirling; there are some pin-prick specks of residue in the glass, at the interior-base.The exterior surface has a fired-on primary-sunshine-Yellow top-coat of colour. The exterior surface shows signs of being well-loved and used - there is good sheen to the colour - the sheen is more mottled from the center to the base; there is a rub-wear line around the bowl at the bell-form (likely from stacking), at the top outer edge, and at the base seat-rim - the colour has faded and thinned here.Normally, embossed on the center of the base is a small embossed circle, within which is embossed "McK" - the embossed circle edges can be seen but not the manufacturer's LOGO.This Small Mixing-Bowl measures - ~6" in diameter, across the top edge; 3 1/4" in height; 2 5/8" in diameter, across the base seating rim.Extra-Large - 9-IN - Primary-Red Mixing-Bowl - All surfaces are highly glossy, shiny and clean. There are a couple flea-bites or rough specks to the top rounded edge and inner rim.The interior surfaces show some milks glass swirls; some fine rubs, scratches, and contact marks; some faint gray utensil and contact marks - near the top edge, bottom curve and base. The exterior surface has a Primary-RED top-coat of fired-on colour. There is some fleck colour-loss and some scratches into the colour over the surface. There is some rub wear at the bulge of the bell form all the way around (likely from stacking) and at the base seat rim.Embossed on the center of the base is a small embossed circle, within which is embossed "McK", faintly. This Extra-Large Mixing-Bowl measures - ~8 7/8" in diameter, across the top edge; 4 3/8" in height; 3 3/4" in diameter, across the base seating rim.SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION –Vintage Nesting-Mixing-Bowls - These VINTAGE nesting mixing-bowl sets - of ALL MAKERS - often came in 3, 4 or even 5-BOWL SETS.
