Description: This is a 1950 Firestone model 4-A-78 radio made in Akron OH. The brown bakelite case was damaged & in need of TLC. Removed all of the non working guts to make way for the new electronics. Repaired the damage using epoxy & a few supports. Sanded, primed & painted this very cool mid century misty green satin color. The lines & overall shape make this a classic mid century modern example. Look at the pics. Found the correct NOS style speaker cloth to highlight the very cool dial. Reused the original 2 large plastic knobs painted . Used teal paint to show off the Firestone logo on the front panel. I like the contrast of the light green, gold and the teal. Big improvement Please look at the pics. On the inside, I installed a new Bluetooth digital stereo hi-fi audio amplifier with 50 watts in addition to a 3" Jensen Pro multi range speaker. Yes this classic is now a real boom box. This little thing sounds great. Reused the original back cover. Installed the on/off/volume switch with the knob on the left. The other is fixed. Man this is nice! All of the electronics are hard wired and secured to the inner supports insure a long life. This is one of a kind Bluetooth speaker that is deco cool. A real conversation piece that makes a grand statement. There is a new electrical plug also. The 1950 Firestone radio converted to Bluetooth speaker measures a small 9" x 5" x 5.5" .Will look good, sound great and fit anywhere. Let know if you have any questions.
