Description: Here is a very interesting vintage MCM oil painting of a young woman in repose during some kind of athletic activity. Whether she's a gymnast/dancer/athlete is unknown, but her dress and demeanor surely signify something along those lines. It is unsigned but reminds me of Milton Avery's work although it's not quite as spare or flat. The colors are strong and bold, and it definitely has a midcentury feel with its overall abstract nature. I think it's quite appealing and I particularly like the white gym socks as they remind me of so many gym classes from that time period---a small detail but definitely one that adds to the scene. Thanks for looking.
