I have not done any research to determine artist and leave any investigation up to the buyer should they choose to do so. Subject is a botanical still life of a scarlett red poppy plant. The artist chose bold colors for the backdrop of this canvas—pink, salmon, yellow, orange, red-orange, vermillion, and dusty purple can all be found behind the poppy arrangement. These color choices, combined with the already eye-catching scarlett red of the poppy flowers, help characterize this as a modernist’s still life. Piercing these colors is the verdant green of the poppy leaves. They really stand-out given all other color choices in this canvas. This piece is sure to draw the eye, wherever you choose to hang it. The artwork is housed in what is likely the painting’s original frame. It is a wide black frame with some moderate design detail. A filet connects and separates the artwork from the frame. The width of the frame, and color choice, are brilliant given strength of colors used in this artwork. The housing is in good shape save for age related wear. As this is a vintage piece, one can expect the odd dent, ding, nick, and scratch; however, all wear is minor and in no way detracts from the artwork nor presentation of this piece.
