Description: Vintage New Jersey Turnpike License Plate Topper (Extremely Rare) This is a very rare 1950s metal license plate topper. It shows a late 1940s touring hardtop sedan on the right (with residue of original blue paint). On the left side it shows the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel (the official northern end of the Turnpike). There is still a trace of the orig green paint. In the center is "New Jersey Turnpike, the Super Highway". (note- the pictures have a goldish tone, but the topper is more grey color). I have never seen this highly sought-after automobile/highway memorabilia item in person until I found it recently at a flea market. The N.J. Turnpike was completed in 1951. It was considered to be an engineering marvel, and revolutionized safe high-speed travel in America. It starts at the Delaware Memorial Bridge and ends at the Lincoln Tunnel. This is an incredible historically significant collectible!
