Description: "Man Castle" is a spoof on what happens to a man's comfy castle when his wife hires an interior designer...lots of unnecessary fluff and stuff. This is a Vintage 1950s Gouache Painting by locally well-known artist Elma Swails from Sunnyvale, CA Elma Swails was born in 1909 she was the youngest of five sisters. She had a varied life settling down to raise Pomeranians in the Sunnyvale area. She founded the Sunnyvale Arts and Crafts Society which still actively enriches the local community by exposing inner-city children to art. Gouache is a type of opaque water based medium, it has a higher pigment load than traditional water based paint. After painting a scene, Elma would let the painting dry then she would wash it with india ink which turned everything that was not already painted a rich black color. Elma routinely incorporated humor into her paintings resulting in rich irony. All of the paint is in excellent condition. This painting hasn't been exposed to uv light for over 75 years. Please inquire for more information. Humor Not framed Condition is Used-excellent Shipped with USPS standard.
