That's exactly how long it took to walk from Chiat\Day headquarters in downtown Los Angeles to where I worked selling Apple computers at Computique on W 7th St. If you're looking at vintage Macintosh items then you certainly recognize Chiat\Day as the genius advertising agency Steve Jobs tasked with knocking the PC industry on their ear. And they did with the award-winning "1984" commercial - shown only once but still revered throughout advertising circles. Two of the creators; Steve Hayden and Lee Clow would walk from Chiat\Day to observe consumer interest and response to the Macintosh. Prior to the Macintosh launch Steve Jobs and some Chiat/Day staff visited our store to inquire about our success selling the Apple Lisa computer. We were the world's number 1 Lisa sales dealer averaging 35 of the $10K Lisa computers per month. Luckily I recognized the significance of Apple's rising success and saved many items from that time. This is one of several items I will be auctioning. The item in this auction is a Vintage and Original Apple Macintosh framed poster exactly as supplied by Apple. Only Authorized Apple dealers received this rare and precious framed art and this is over 30 years old. It is an original object provided by Apple - not a reproduction or copy. It hung in our computer store for many years and witnessed the revolution that Apple was leading. The frame is 22 1/4" wide by 28 1/4" tall and 3/4 of an inch thick. The frame is made from heavy-duty brushed aluminum and the posted is covered by clear acrylic. The lower right corner features the Apple logo. It has a device on the back to ease wall mounting. It weighs a significant 4 lbs. There are no wrinkles, tears or marks on the poster. I displayed this in my office at the computer software company where I worked for over a decade. It looked beautiful and everyone loved it and commented on its history. I work from home now and don't have the space to display this beloved item any longer. I am hoping it will find a home with a true Apple enthusiast. Seeing and holding these items from the earliest days of the Macintosh is an amazing thing!
