The painting is an original work of art painted on paper. The painting is framed in a picture frame (see photos). The painting is signed by the well known Greek /American and Internationally known artist: YIANNIS NOMIKOS and it is dated for 1978 (see photos). The figurative painting depicts a group of horses (see photos). The painting was painted when the artist was living in America in New York City (see photos). The painting is vintage. This item measures in total framed about 27 inches high, and it is about 50 inches wide. The picture frame some scuffs and some wear (see photos). The painting has white stains ? and some wear (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item). This is a nice hand painted original animal portrait painting of horses to add to your collection. Here is some information about this artist from the artist's own website: "Born in Athens Greece. From the age of 13 to 23 he studied and worked on Greek vases, using the techniques of ancient art. In 1974 he moved to New York and in 1976 he attended the Art Students League in Manhattan. There, under Jack Faragasso studied perspective drawing, and traditional oil techniques. Drawing has become his favorite expression in art. Since 1979 he began drawing scenes of the every day life of people of New York, and later other cities like Stockholm, Amsterdam, Athens, Medellin. While in New York, he also worked as a Muralist and Tromp l’oeil artist for famous architects and interior designers like Valerian Rybar. During that time, he was commissioned work at the homes of Claudio Bruni in Tunis and Rome. In 1982 he moved to Sweden and lived in Stockholm and sold work to private collectors. In 1983 he went to Finland and worked with the artist Henry Alert in clay compositions, exhibiting in Helsinki. By appropriate enlargements which suggests the reverence of a devotee, Yiannis Nomikos conveys and resourcefully “translates” the manner, the ethos, and the training of his way looking a way which scrutinises and penetrates to the hidden recesses of a life which usually remains in the margin, through its splendour and its silences, the intentions and the unforeseen features of which it is comprised, as it reflects the question –marks of existence. The same or the apparently repeated motif in his works makes their appearance as different, revealing their individualised differences through their similarity. This is a differentness, which gives meaning to qualities and colour shades, which constitute the essence of variety on a basis on which this is constantly redefined, thus broadening the concept of phenomenology and of an unknown “paradise”. This is the “paradise” which, un-admitted, is to be found in our collective unconscious and on the fringes of every hope. As we yearn for it, it is the painting of this artists which initiates us into the ways in which we can from our closer environment learn to explore and reshape it, while we are seeking it, in reality or allegorically, by providing us with supplies of joyfulness, optimism, and expectation in our grey everyday routine."
