Description: This Eldorado pencil box is one of the most beautiful pencil boxes I've seen! This is a box of unused Dixon Eldorado pencils! These are 12 '4H' pencils in the box. This is a complete box of unused pencils. The box has been opened, but the pencils have not been used. These were sharpened in the factory, they are still unused - very snug in the box. 4H on the hardness scale. Made in USA, by the Joseph Dixon Crucible Company of Jersey City, New Jersey, USA. Dixon was founded in 1795 by Joseph Dixon. The 'Ticonderoga' brand pencil refers to the town in New York where the lead was sourced. These are in the distinctive Dixon yellow , with 'DIXON'S TYPHONITE ELDORADO '4H' imprinted on one side in alternating colors of gold and dark blue. 'made in USA' is imprinted in gold on the opposite side as well. Hexagonal pencils, these are 7 inches long. These pencils have a nice, sturdy feel to them. The outer box is intact, with a wonderful Art-Deco style design showing a group of Conquistadors discovering the lost golden city of Eldorado, and colorful highlights of red-pink-yellow-gray on the top and bottom too! Great typography on the front and sides too! A very sturdy box, with an inner box which has a convenient cut on two sides so that the box can be slid out and the pencils can be easily pulled out of the box. No creases or writing or other marks to the outer box! Most likely from the 1940's - mid 1950's! To be mailed out in a box!
