Description: This is an imperfectly perfect Tarahumara rug/ blanket I purchased from a government run indigenous arts and craft store in Mexico maybe 30 years ago. Almost everything is a little off and quite primitive. The wool is undyed natural grey and brown wool hand spun not at all uniformly. The knots are of varying sizes. The length and width sizes vary. There are areas that are extremely loose where the weaver missed connecting wefts and warps. The ends are tied off in a variety of ways. This is not at all like the finely crafted rugs of Central Asia. The wool is very soft and while it was sold as a rug, it is best used as a cozy or blanket - or displayed. For all its imperfections, it is a wonderful ethnographic and cultural piece created in the Copper Canyon of Mexico by a tribal group that at that time period was largely unknown. And it is beautiful! I photographed this blanket both in sunlight and indoors. Please look at these photos carefully because this rug has a number of irregularaties. It is a primitive piece and needs a home where primitive is appreciated. If you have questions or need additional photos, let me know. Best - Bruce
