Vintage RARE 1950's Executone J413 / Western Electric microphone stand old Atlas

You are looking at a very unique and rare 1940's era Executone microphone floor stand called the J413 that has an extra wide, 3 tier cast iron (12 inch wide) base with an extra wide and durable 2 piece retractable chrome stem Made in the United States and sold under license through Western Electric. This uber rare model has a much heavier, wider base than the typical Atlas stands being produced at that time making this ideal for heavier mics or boom arms. This J413 kind of looks looks like the the early Atlas MS20 model but had several more distinct features. Just when I think i have seen almost everything made and sold from the mic manufacturers over the years something comes along that blows my mind. This J413 is one of them. I have never even seen this model before and did not know of it's existence until now. This is obviously a very low production model sold by Executone. The J413 has a classic deco design and has a very unique inner cable set up. I was going to rewire the stand but I cannot because I always ship these stands with the two piece chrome riser disconnected from the base. You have to remove the pole otherwise it might break from stress fractures if it's shipped attached to the base. You can wire the stand once you get it however. You just have to install an inner cable within the base and pole. You can either just install a standard XLR cable that runs through the base and up the stem / riser or...you can wire a cable from the 3 pin connector on the base up the pole to your mic. You can use an older 3 pin cable (like those used on Shure, Stromberg Carlson, Ampex) You have two different options to consider but it's safest to do so once you attach the risers to the base because you can't just disconnect the riser form the base and ship it alone once you wire the base. I hope that makes sense? Anyways, the stand is 100% complete and has all the needed hardware for wiring the stand. An hour of labor (or less) will have this stand just as it used to be. There are 5 screws that hold the lower metal plate to the cast iron base and they all come off easily. Nothing is fused. Once the lower plate is removed you have full access to the inside to wire your cable. The J413 has an extra thick, extra heavy base making this ideal for those older heavier microphones like the Shure 55 "Fatboy" or the RCA 77DX model mic. This is a hard stand to tip over. There is a unique rubber gasket / pad that wraps the entire circumference of the base so that it won't scratch your floor and the rubber is still in excellent shape. The lowest this stand sits at is 40 inches which is great for kids, drums or a musician who is sitting. The highest height it sits is 67 inches which is more than enough for the tallest of users. This stand will except all boom arms as well for extra height or width as needed. The top adapter is an Atlas type so you can use any mic clip or screw on mic as well. You'll notice the entry hole at the top of the upper riser. This is where your custom cable will come through and the metal spring is held in place via a wood piece that provides tension via the top adapter when screwed into place. It's a very clever design actually and all original. The original chrome on all stems shows typical wear with the heaviest of wear being on the lower riser. The action clutch mechanism holds the stems / risers in place nicely. There are no dents or fractures in the chrome risers and they slide easily as they should for height adjustment. The Cast iron base has it's original black paint scheme and has a very good finish with lite wear. The bottom plate has the most subtle rust stain but it has the original Executone label which is a real bonus otherwise I'd never even know what model this was? This J413 will compliment any mic you choose to use with it and because of it's design and rarity this will only go up in value. I doubt I'll ever find another example again. Overall this stand is an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. I'm very picky though. Some might rate it better. If you demand rarity and eccentric...look no further. As with all my vintage microphones and stands... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy.
